On the grounds of the former German Nazi death camp in Sobibór the construction works planned in 2017 related to the creation of the Museum - Memorial Site in Sobibór, a branch of the State Museum at Majdanek, came to an end.

The building, consisting of the office of the new institution and an outbuilding, has reached the open shell phase. Previously, the mass graves containing ashes of the camp victims were protected by covering them with geotextiles and a layer of white marble aggregates.

The investment will continue in spring of 2018. Further activities include finishing works of the building, construction of a car park and necessary water supply and sewage disposal system. The opening of the museum is planned for autumn of 2019.
