Construction work on the grounds of the Museum in Sobibór – branch of the State Museum at Majdanek – start this week. The area of the former German Nazi death camp will be closed to visitors until further notice.

In 2017, the mass graves containing ashes of the camp victims were protected and the building consisting of the office of the new institution and an outbuilding reached the open shell phase. The commencing work will include finishing works of the buildings, construction of water supply, sewage disposal system, car parks or footpaths. This phase of construction is expected to last through August 2019.
