The Museum at Majdanek has accomplished conservation of another group of relics found on the grounds of the former German Nazi death camp in Sobibór.

Among them there are nearly 500 personal objects, such as coins, zips, keys, padlocks and scissors. Apart from that such extraordinary items as powder compacts, rings, cufflinks, fragments of a pram, lipsticks, cream containers or a token were preserved. The metal objects were supplemented with the relics made of leather and glass such as shoes and fragments of bottles.

The purpose of the conservation was to clear the items of harmful rust without disturbing their authenticity. The objects also were made corrosion-proof. Only this year the Museum has preserved nearly 1300 items from Sobibór. The Museum collections include 5446 objects of this type which have been entered into the collections inventory and the archaeological research is still in progress. Some of them will be presented at the permanent exhibition in the future seat of the Museum of the Former Death Camp in Sobibór.
